Day 20 of #30daysofbiking-Ft Stevens

I was on the North Oregon Coast today.  I had thought about biking up the Astoria Column but my riding partner squawked at riding up the hill, so instead we started  in Warrenton and rode toward old Ft Stevens.
As we were preparing to ride another cyclist pulled up and asked about the area.  As it ended up, he was from Seattle.  We rode together for the first mile or so.

We arrived at the old fort, but found that much of the structure is now closed to the public. The best we could do today was to peer into the building from outside the chain. It seems that too many miscreants were using the dark passages for nefarious deeds.

From Ft Stevens we rode on park trails south to the wreck of the Peter Iredale

After spending some time at the Peter Iredale we rode back via the road since the trail access back into the historic fort was going to be closed.  We ended up with 9 miles, again, not a lot of miles, but enough to check the box for Day 20 of #30daysofbiking
