Today is the 22nd day of #ridingeverydayinNovember and it is Thanksgiving. After a dry three weeks, we are finally getting some rain in the Pacific Northwest. I could hear rain on the roof in the pre daylight hours but was committed to riding at least my minimum today to keep my commitment to ride everyday. More than the weather, Thanksgiving festivities often provide more of a challenge to biking. The forecast called for morning showers with heavier rain (with up to two feet of snow in the mountain passes) by afternoon. In an effort to avoid conflict with family Thanksgiving events I put on my rain gear and took off within a half hour of sunrise. At least with the change in weather the temperature was moderate.
As I stepped out to ride I noted that there was a break in the rain. I bypassed the rain bike and hopped on the fixed gear bike.
Today I rode hard, not my usual tootle around, but it was only 5 miles.
Happy Thanksgiving all!
AFTERNOON UPDATE
Thanksgiving is about football to many in the US, and the neighborhood has an annual turkey bowl to be in the holiday spirit. Not the high impact, brain jarring, concussion inducing kind, they do they laugh, fumble, eat good food, and play touch football.
I rode my bike there to cheer them on, and to eat the goodies offered.
I got 3 more miles to add to the morning's 5.
