Raising funds for the Brett Jarolimek Memorial Fund

Brett Jarolimek was killed October 22nd,`07 when a truck "right hooked" him as it turned right and failed to yield to a bicycle in a bicycle lane (violation of ORS 811.050 ) The driver of the truck, who had a horrendous driving record, was never cited. The failure of the Portland Police to cite the driver was/is perplexing to many.

In an effort to make something good come out of this tragedy Bike Gallery, where Brett was an employee, and the Bicycle Transportation Alliance have teamed up to establish the non-profit tax exempt Brett Jarolimek Memorial Fund to promote bicycle safety. More information on the purpose and goals of this fund may be found HERE

Today it was announced that there will be a fund raising silent auction and raffle to benefit the fund. Please consider attending and supporting this effort. You may also make a tax deductible contribution directly to the fund via PayPal.

I haven't been on my bike much this week, a combination of rain, SNOW (again today!) wind, and a good dose of bike pansy were to blame. That will be remedied both Saturday and Sunday when I have plans to ride with some folks.
