Day 10 of #ridingeverydayinNovember

I got my 10th day in November completed, but technically it was night time when I did it.

I was busy all day helping a friend so a scheduled ride with friends that began shortly after 6PM would work out just fine.

This time of year in NW Oregon it is dark by 5:15, so lights would be required as we rolled out.

3 of us started out from Oregon Public House and planned to meet another 15 miles into our ride.

It was a cool night, with a temperature of 42 degrees.  I was warm enough, buy my compadres were feeling it. We rolled north toward the Columbia River.

We followed the bluff above Swan Island then rolled down Greeley Ave to the Willamette River at the Steel Bridge. We crossed the Steel Bridge and rode along the Waterfront Park Trail.

We picked up our fourth rider at the Tilikum Bridge, but at the same time one rider took leave, having an early morning.

The three of us pedaled across the Tilikum Bridge and headed east.  We picked up another rider.  He was visiting from Iowa and anxious to learn some bike routes.  "Dean from Iowa" tagged along with us for quite a few miles.  As it ended up, he and one of our group had attended the same college, but 3 years apart.

We worked our way through the SE neighborhood finally arriving at Sellwood Riverfront Park.  We turned north back toward downtown Portland.  When we got back to the Steel Bridge, Dean decided that he'd better get back to his hotel.  Citing that I had a blog to maintain, he agreed to a photo.

The three of us pedaled NE and took the scenic (at least longer!) way back to Oregon Public House.  As we pedaled away from the river it began to rain lightly.  We feared it was going to start pouring.  We are predicted to have significant rainfall beginning late tonight on through tomorrow.  As it ended up, it just dripped.  The roads never got really wet, just damp.

We finished our ride then went into Oregon Public House for a post ride debriefing.

It was a good night for a ride!
