A friend invited me for a bike ride today. I hardly ever turn down the opportunity for a ride so off I went.
We rode out Halsey St heading toward Troutdale thinking we might ride to Multnomah Falls, but the beautiful sunny day hijacked us. We took a dirt path along the Sandy River.
We found a sun soaked beach and proceeded to skip rocks across the water. My friend had a late afternoon appointment so we decided we should make our way back to Portland rather than continue on to Multnomah Falls. As we rode back through Troutdale there was chocolate ice cream calling our names.
Following our ice cream stop it became evident that there were better priorities than an afternoon meeting. A call was made, and additional time in the sunshine was allotted. We rode out the Marine Drive bike path with thoughts of riding to Kelly Point Park.
Alas, more water, more sun, and a perfect beach to watch the world go by.
It was soon time to be on our way again.
We didn't make it to Kelly Point Park, but my friend did make it to an evening appointment.........barely!
35 miles, and a little sunburn added to the tally.
