Getting it dialed in

Steve and I rode Portland's 40 mile loop again tonight.



It was the coldest night so far, below freezing, but I was comfortably warm, even my finger tips! Knowing it was going to be below freezing tonight I added a pair of wind pants over my long legged riding pants. Having noticed a cold goretex jacket pressing against my long sleeved riding jersey on the last ride I added arm warmers over my long sleeves just to add some insulation.

It worked perfectly! I was warm but not sweaty.

Steve had forgotten his helmet. Luckily I was wearing my "night helmet" (more reflectivity, a 'dashboard light' and driving light already installed) and had my day helmet along. After a little adjustment of straps we went for a bike ride.

It was a gorgeous night for a ride. I have kept the Christmas lights that I installed for the PIR ride on the bike. It IS the season after all! I had positive comments from pedestrians, cyclists, and automobile drivers. Nothing like riding around with Christmas lights on your bike to spread a little holiday cheer.

After we finished the loop I had 39 mile tonight, remember that I rode back to my pickup to get my day helmet for Steve. It was such a nice night that I went for some bonus miles.

I finished up tonight with a nice even 50 miles again.
