Trial Run

I am booked to join a group riding from Vancouver WA tomorrow.  I wanted a dry run of my commute route for timing purposes.

I snagged sometimes riding partner Carol to join me.  She was a bit late to our ride start, and had to be back in 3.5 hours for work.  My planned route was 16 miles out, and 16 back.  Shouldn't be a problem.

We started off from Sellwood Riverfront Park and rode north along the Springwater Trail, then Eastbank Esplanade, then bikeways to the Interstate Bridge.  We picked up a bit of rain as we neared Washington State.

Crossing into Washington was like taking a trip through Alice's rabbit hole.  There was some sort of somethingoranotherCON going on, and everyone was in costume.

We arrived at tomorrow's starting location in 70 minutes.  We needed our time, so we didn't dally.  As we pedaled along, after just crossing the Interstate Bridge, Carol got a text message.  It seemed there was some mixup on work starting time.  Instead of having to be back at Sellwood by 3:30, she had to be at work at 3:30!  We picked up the speed a bit. Luckily, the rain had stayed in Vancouver, and we had a dry return trip.

We arrived back at Sellwood at 3PM.  Luckily, she said she had some clothes suitable for work in her car.  I don't know if she made it there in time or not, but we did what we could.
