A nice day

 It started out sunny.  Surprisingly so in that it just poured rain last night. So much so in fact that my riding partner for the day had made other plans.  At the last minute things aligned and we went for a ride.
Some miscommunication meant that it was 90 minutes later than I had planned to ride before we finally got off.  No big deal, I really enjoyed the time pedaling with a friend whom I had not ridden with in quite some time.

While I waited for my friend to show up I managed to catch the old steam engine moving up the tracks near Oaks Park.

                               Those old steam engines just seem alive.

We rode Portland's 40 mile loop. I've ridden it quite a few times lately, but my friend had never ridden it. It was a good day to ride.  It started out mostly blue sky, but gradually clouded up as the day progressed.  When we got to the far end of the loop my friend bailed out. choosing to ride home, which was not too far away.  I escorted her home.  That was fortuitous in that it started to rain as we neared her home, and as we stood on her porch it absolutely poured.  I delayed leaving until the worst was past.  I made my way back to the 40 mile loop and finished the route.  With the out and back to my friend's home I picked up a few bonus miles. Not as many bonus miles as I had planned on,  but enough.

It was another good day on a bike.
