17 cold, wet, dark miles.

That's what it took to wrap up my 4th consecutive 10,000 mile year.

I had planned a ride today with an invitation for friends to join me as I reached that little milestone.Wouldn't you know it, it was raining.  Not just showers or drizzle, non stop rain.
My day started a bit late and I could never quite catch up.  I rolled into Madison's Grill parking lot just a few minutes before the ride was to start.  Needless to say, I was a bit late. 

We pedaled out in a steady, cold, rain. Our pace, advertized as "social" was even slow by that measure.  We took over 2 hours to ride the 17 miles, but it was all good.  One of the participants was a gal who thanked me for helping her get on a bike a few years ago.  It was nice to see her still riding, and coming out on a cold rainy day besides.

We finished up the ride just before 5PM, well into darkness. We were all a bit chilled, and wet.  We sat around the warm and dry tables inside Madison's, had warm food and beverage while talking about bikes and miles.

It was a lousy day to ride, but thanks to friends it was a good ride!
