A friend and I rode to Blue Lake Park in Fairview and had a picnic.
The ride out was aided by a tailwind and was quite quick. The cars trying to make progress on the freeway next to us during a late rush hour might have noticed us zipping pass them.
As we rode along Marine Drive we had a good view of Mt Hood. I'm not sure why it looks so much closer from here than it does from Sandy, which is actually much closer, but it does.
The wind really gave us a push along Marine Drive, we kept the bikes moving in the 23-24 mph range.
We arrived in time to get our picnic set out just before the sun went down. I love it when a plan comes together.
We nibbled on cheese and meat slices, and sipped Merlot.
All good things must come to an end and the park staff was quick to point out that the park closed at 9PM. After about 45 minutes there we gathered our stuff up and pedaled out. It was beginning to cool off so jackets were donned.
Before long it was quite dark, but we both had lights along, thinking it might get dark before our little trip was done. We rode a mix of dedicated bike paths and low traffic sharrowed streets. It was a great evening for a bike ride.
