Two Hills, No Repeats

There was a plan for an after work ride tonight with bike friend Paula out to Women's Forum Park in the Columbia River Gorge.  As we pedaled out shortly after 6:15 PM, it started raining lightly.  It did not rain hard, but was relentless.

 
 It has been over a month since it has rained and the roads were very slick.  We were both on fenderless bikes and not dressed for very wet weather.  We decided to stay closer to home.
We turned and rode toward Mt Tabor.  We pedaled up the hill (with the rear wheel slipping a bit from time to time!) and once on top I stopped to take a photo.

As we were preparing to continue on, friend Dan Dulley and his friend Judy rode up! It seems we weren't the only ones to be out on this damp evening!

From Mt Tabor we hunt and pecked our way over to Rocky Butte.  My old social bike club has continued the Rocky Butte Hill Repeats on Tuesday and Thursdays and we thought we might just be able to hook up with more old friends for a hill repeat or two, or at least the post ride debriefing.  Alas, with a few wrong turns we were just a bit late.  I called one of the ride leaders to see if they were still in the neighborhood.  Too bad, only the leader showed up, she started early, ended early, and was already home.

Paula and I made one ascent and stopped at the top for a couple of photos.

It was still raining, so we went down the north side, which isn't quite as steep, and does not have as sharp of turns.  From there we made our way back across town and finished up this abbreviated ride. We finished off with a stop at some nearby food carts for a post ride snack.
