It had rained during the night, and the morning was predicted to be wet. About half of those signed up to ride decided that rain was toxic and bailed out.
I brought the rain bike.
We got off about 15 minutes late.
There were a few scattered drops of rain as we started off, but they soon left. We rode mostly on Portland's Neighborhood Greenways. There are all sorts of changes made to make these roads a magnet to cyclists, and distasteful for motor vehicles. It's too bad that supporters of expensive separated bike lanes, magic green paint, and other such folly don't hop on a bike and come ride here and see how it might be.
We arrived at the Portland Airport in 10 miles. The gang went in for the obligatory photo of them standing on the soon to be replaced iconic carpeting.
I stayed outside and babysat the bikes.
After the photo shoot we hopped back on the bikes and rode to the runways to watch for airplanes, and the chance to view a vortex.
We didn't get to see those wisps of vapor, but we did have an up close and personal view of a jet landing.
We ended up at Tamale Boy where lunch was just a few minutes away.
The weather ended up being pretty darn decent, and as is often the case, those who stayed home missed a great ride.
