Better than we deserved, day 2

Today's forecast was showing 90% chance of rain. We did indeed get some rain but only 2 instances, about 45 minutes in duration total. We showed 57 degrees by early afternoon. Not at all bad. (well, from a riding in Winter perspective anyway!)

9 of us showed up in Butteville today, actually 1 more than RSVP'd, so a great turnout for a predicted wet day on the Keizer Metric Century route.

Katherine showed up with her brand new Kona cyclocross bike. Check out the snazzy bright yellow fenders!

We rode mostly southward towards Keizer. We rode into a 8-10 mph wind, and for about 20 minutes of that, the wind was joined with a pretty substantial rainfall. The rain stopped before we got to Keizer and we took the opportunity at this, our halfway point, to stop at Dairy Queen to top of water bottles, use the restroom, and grab a few bites to eat.


From Keizer our route turned east and the wind blew from the side. There were a few scattered patches of blue sky and the road actually dried off! When we got to Howell Prairie we turned northward and now enjoyed a tailwind most of the way back to Butteville.

We did pick up some more rain just after Gervais but this time it was lighter and at our backs instead of our faces! The rain continued to the end of our ride.

It was a good group of riders. They all came prepared for the weather and for the distance and pace. We finished up the day with a "post ride debriefing" at Wanker's Corner in Wilsonville.
