Some scattered high clouds had come in during the night, and had helped keep temperatures up. I pedaled out with shorts and a long sleeved cotton t-shirt, hardly race attire, but this was hardly a race!

Two had already left for home by the time the 4 of us finished our lap around Diamond Lake at 10:30 AM. 2 others decided that an earlier start on the 3.5 hour drive home sounded good and decided to forgo the traditional event closing lunch at Diamond Lake Resort. John was carpooling with me, and we decided that with just two of us, that paying resort prices for a sandwich and chips didn't sound necessary, so we too started down the road.
With the over 50% cancellation rate, lack of interest in a Saturday night potluck, and skipping the lunch at Diamond Lake Resort, this was a different event than in past years. It was still fun! It was work for me, and for a couple of the other attendees, but Type II fun is still fun!
