A Ride Around Diamond Lake

Today was the second day of the Crater Lake/Diamond Lake cycling weekend.  The girls decided that kayaking on Diamond Lake sounded more fun than cycling around it.  We broke camp, loaded the vehicles and off they paddled!

 David and I hopped on our bikes and set off around the Diamond Lake trail.  David got in full kit, knowing the route I decided that it just wasn't worth getting all geared up.  I rode in blue jeans and a t-shirt.
It was a nice lap around the lake.  There was still a lot of smoke in the air but we managed to see some wildlife up close.

There were a few places worth taking a photo op as we circumnavigated the lake, even with the smoke filled air.

We finished our 11 mile lap, met the girls back at the dock, loaded boats and bikes.

 We all took a quick shower then retired to the Diamond Lake Lodge for the traditional weekend closing lunch before driving back home. It was a nice way to close out a fun weekend.

It would be a long day for them, as we didn't get on the road until shortly after 2 PM, and they had about an 8 hour drive back to the Puget Sound area.
