Beginning to look somewhat like..............

There was snow on the ground for part of today's ride!

I met up with Arsen, a facebook acquaintance from Seattle for a mid afternoon ride.  I participated in a Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Walk this morning, all tolled an 8 mile warm up walk for this afternoon's ride.

We met at the north end of the Fremont Bridge in Seattle.  We started off by riding to near Golden Gardens where we got a view across the water, and of an approaching shower.

It had not rained all day, but that was about to change. Shortly after I took the photo it began to drip.  I had raingear along, but it never got quite hard enough to stop and put it on.  I was wearing an STP tyvek jacket which sheds water pretty well, plus we only had a couple of hours before dark, I just couldn't get that cold and miserable in that short of time.

After taking the view in, we turned east and made our way east toward Lake Washington.  Along the way we were joined by Arsen's friend Dave.  The three of us arrived at Lake Washington near Mathew's Beach.  We were surprised to find snow on the ground.  Roofs were white, parked cars were white, and the grass and leaves had a pretty good dusting of the white stuff.  After maybe a strong half mile the snow disappeared.

We pedaled along the water side of U of W, and while I had never been on the road, I did recognize the water as a place I had kayaked before.

We crossed crossed the Montlake Cut and rode along Lake Union, then across downtown Seattle to Puget Sound.  The sun was just setting as we arrived at the waterfront.  It was a worthy event for a photo stop.

We had planned to ride around Magnolia, but the setting sun made us rethink that plan.  We all had lights along, but none of us had the NEED to ride around Magnolia in the dark.  The views would be nonexistant.
We decided to ride along the ship canal instead.

As we neared Fremont I bid adieu and pedaled back up Queen Anne, while my compadres continued across the Fremont Bridge back toward their respective homes.

It was a nice night for a ride.  Even the rain shower couldn't dampen the spirit.
