A Covered Bridge

Today I joined 8 other folks on a ride to a covered bridge.  We started in Silverton and rode to the Gallon House Covered Bridge. The bridge is just a couple miles out of town, so we took a circuitous route to get there.

Along the way we stopped at a park,

and a farm store/pumpkin patch.

We eventually arrived at the covered bridge.

We finished up with food and drink at Seven Brides Brewing.

Earlier in the day I thought that after this 33 mile ride I'd ride to another covered bridge in Stayton, a 30 mile round trip, but a brisk wind meant I'd have a tailwind to Stayton, and a 15 mile headwind slog back, along a busier road than I'd prefer. Couple that with the laziness induced by a heavy lunch and 12 ozs of brew, and I decided to do something else.

On the drive back home I decided that a ride out Springwater Corridor sounded about right.  No traffic, and a north wind wouldn't be as much of an issue on this E/W route.  I decided that a metric century would be a nice lead in to tomorrow's full century.  I rode out 14.5 miles, turned around and came back.
